ETHEL - tousled lace headdress
Ethel is a statement headdress. Messy and tousled, with a generous splash of gothic romance and layers of lace texture. I can see this with a burgundy red dress and lip stain, jet black earrings and an accessory that picks up on the navy blue. This headdress would be great for an event like a birthday party or exhibition opening
I love the impact of this slightly disheveld headdress. It is very feminine, whilst also saying you don't have to be perfectly put together to have style.
This headband is handmade in London by me, Claire. The fabric headband has a piece of millinery felt inside it which makes it pretty structural. The decorative hearts trim was found in a little haberdashery shop on the outskirts of Leeds about 20 years ago.
This headband was inspired by the use of lace in Victorian mourning culture, stained glass windows and the use of hearts in folk art.

HEAD SIZE AND HOW TO WEAR
This headband comes in one size that fits all head sizes.
It is worn ear to ear over the top of your head. The headband is fitted with a dark brown elastic that is designed to go around the back of your head, and sit behind your ears and at the nape of your neck. The elastic is adjustable. If you need it tighter or looser then pull on the slip knot.
The headband has a sturdy piece of felt inside the fabric, which make the piece quite structural.
It does not have a comb, and would not need one for most people. If you like to have combs in your headdresses then just let me know and I can stitch one in.

Your hat will be sent via Royal Mail Special Delivery, and you should receive your product within 1 - 3 days of placing your order.
You will need to sign for your delivery. You will receive an email from me with your tracking number as soon as I have taken it to the post office.

Your hat will be delivered in a sturdy white box which measures 35 cm x 24 cm x 17 cm (a bit bigger than a standard size shoe box). It is also a great box for storing your hat! And please hang onto your packaging, as all returns need to be sent back in their original packaging.
CARE
Please avoid the rain when wearing this headpiece. It can handle a light sprinkle, but getting completely soaked is not advised.
If it does get wet, then let it dry naturally in a warm room. Don't use a hairdryer or put it next to a radiator as the heat may warp it. Generally this should take about 6 - 12 hours. If you have any problems please do get in touch through the website contact page. If it gets very wet then the felt inside may need reshaping with steam. It's a fairly simple process, so let me know and I can help.
It is best stored in the box it is delivered in, or on a shelf where it has some space around it.
